About Me

Hey there! My name is Jared Greer. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! My wife Suzanne and I are disciples of Jesus who currently live and work in the greater Nashville area. I work at Lipscomb University, and serve as an Associate Minister for the Acklen Avenue Church of Christ in Nashville, TN. I have an AA in Biblical Studies and a BA in Organizational Communication from Florida College, as well as an MTS from the Hazelip School of Theology at Lipscomb University. During my MTS program, my emphasis was in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, and my thesis explored the function and theological significance of blood in the Pentateuch. I am currently enrolled in Northern Seminary’s Doctor of Theology and Ministry (DTM) program, and my emphasis is in systematic theology.

I was born and raised in the American Restoration Movement (sometimes called the Stone-Campbell Movement), and I have attended Churches of Christ all my life. If these labels mean anything to you, I align closely with classical theism, credobaptism, pacifism, continuationism, and egalitarianism. In terms of ecclesiology and political theology, I’ve been influenced greatly by anabaptist and neo-anabaptist traditions—although I have a high sacramentalism and a deep love and appreciation for the liturgical styles of worship found in ‘High Church’ traditions. My goal in all things is to follow God’s Word and live by the rule of Christ’s cross and the new creation (Galatians 6:14-16).

Mostly, I am using this blog to organize my thoughts and research, and to hone my writing skills. If I am able to help somebody in their walk of faith along the way, glory be to God. I might offer some thoughts on a biblical and/or theological topic; I might share a sermon/homily that I wrote for my congregation; I might review a book or movie; etc. But in all that I do, I hope to grow in my relationship to the triune God.
